Ethereum.org has recapped its achievements for 2024, marking a year filled with significant developments and community-driven initiatives. As they gear up for a busy 2025, the Ethereum community is taking a moment to appreciate the milestones reached over the past year, according to ethereum.org.

Key Upgrades and Initiatives

The Cancun-Deneb network upgrade, also known as Dencun, was a standout achievement. To address community inquiries about the upgrade, ethereum.org launched a comprehensive FAQ page, enhancing understanding of the protocol’s roadmap.

Another notable initiative was the Translatathon, a translation contest aimed at expanding Ethereum’s non-English content. The event saw 327 participants translate over 2.53 million words into 70 languages, supported by 12 in-person translation hubs worldwide.

Technological Advancements

In a bid to enhance website performance, ethereum.org transitioned its UI library to ShadCN, a decision aimed at improving user experience across various devices and internet speeds. This migration aligns with the community’s commitment to accessibility and performance.

Additionally, ethereum.org updated its Layer 2 content, providing users with detailed, beginner-friendly information about scaling solutions. This update reflects the growing importance of Layer 2 in Ethereum’s ecosystem.

Community Engagement

Community interaction was a priority, as seen at Devcon SEA, where ethereum.org engaged with over 400 visitors and distributed merchandise to contributors. The Contributor Acknowledgement Program further recognized community efforts with over 800 badges awarded for contributions in various categories.

The platform also participated in Hacktoberfest 2024, encouraging open-source contributions and receiving over 40 pull requests from 20 contributors.

Innovative Tools and Features

ETHGlossary was introduced as part of the Translatathon, gamifying the translation of Ethereum terminology. This initiative resulted in nearly 7,000 translations across 40 languages, helping to build a comprehensive glossary of Ethereum terms globally.

Moreover, ethereum.org hosted numerous community events, including 38 Discord sessions ranging from Office Hours to Community Calls, enhancing community learning and engagement.

Looking Ahead

In 2025, ethereum.org plans to adopt the Shape Up methodology for its development cycles, focusing on shipping features and initiatives over eight-week terms. This approach aims to streamline project management and enhance productivity.

Ethereum.org’s commitment to community-driven development remains strong, with numerous opportunities for contributors to engage in content creation, design, translation, and more.
