Clone Launches Mainnet and Introduces SUI to Solana

Solana protocol for non-native tokens Clone has announced its mainnet launch. Twin products, known as Clone Markets and Clone Liquidity, are now live enabling Solana users to trade tokens that are synonymous with other blockchains. These include OP, ARB, and SUI.

Known as clAssets, Clone’s implementation of cloned assets enables non-native tokens to be traded on Solana. In addition to providing greater opportunities for Solana traders, clAssets allow blockchain ecosystems to gain greater exposure through having their native asset recreated on Solana. The network’s low fees and high throughput make it ideally suited to supporting high volume trading, with a fee environment typically lower than the clAssets’ source chain.

Clone Co-Founder Evan Deutsch said: “With Clone’s mainnet launch on Solana, we’re not just enabling trading of non-native tokens; we’re envisioning a future where Solana becomes a universal trading platform. Our mission is to make any token tradable without leaving Solana, expanding our community and unlocking the blockchain’s true potential.”

Token Cloning as a Service

Clone allows assets from any blockchain to be recreated on Solana, where its Comet Liquidity System ensures clAssets can be traded with deep liquidity and low slippage. Clone Markets forms the exchange where clAssets can be swapped, while Clone Liquidity allows LPs to earn rewards for pooling clAssets.  The liquidity system Clone has developed supports leveraged cross-margin liquidity pools.

The ability to use a single source of liquidity in USDC as collateral means that LPs can provide liquidity to multiple pools simultaneously. This allows for greater capital efficiency compared to conventional AMMs. It also simplifies LP position management, reducing friction when adding or removing liquidity.

A Multi-Chain Portfolio on One Chain

One of the most compelling aspects of Clone is that it allows a diverse portfolio to be developed on Solana with no custodial risk. As a result, cloned assets representing tokens such as ARB and OP can be developed, despite these being EVM-native tokens. As Clone matures, the number of clAssets available is expected to increase.

Initially, focus is on deepening liquidity available for its existing assets. More than $700K has been deposited by LPs already and the clAssets represented in the form of Clone Arbitrum (clARB) and Clone Optimism (clOP) are faithfully adhering to their market price. The next asset to be added is SUI, which will give Solana users exposure to the thriving SUI ecosystem – without the need to bridge funds.

The rollout of the Clone mainnet follows a private mainnet that commenced on February 1, providing early supporters with a chance to add liquidity and swap clAssets. Following a successful month-long trial, Clone has greenlit its full launch. The introduction of SUI will mark the first time the token has been tradable on Solana. In the process, it will commence a new era for interoperability, further blurring the lines between where one chain ends and another begins.
