- The Cardano protocol has launched its smart contract tool, Marlowe on the mainnet.
- The Marlowe protocol was floated with both internal and external audits completed.
Cardano (ADA) community members are very excited as the protocol’s dedicated language Marlowe which has been in development for quite a while has finally gone live on the mainnet. As announced by Cardano builder Input Output Global (IOG) on Tuesday, early adopters and testers can now begin testing and providing feedback.
Marlowe is a domain-specific language (DSL) built for Cardano’s scalable Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain network. It allows users to conveniently develop, deploy, and monetize smart contracts on the ADA blockchain. It is one of the newest languages and tools utilized on Cardano. At the same time, Marlowe is different from other existing smart contract creation tools as it does not require any specialized programming skills to prototype and bring smart contracts to market rapidly.
Ultimately, it is aimed at providing easy access to financial contracts and agreements for individuals not minding their programming background. It is notably another milestone for the Cardano blockchain on the technical level and the network has kept up with its piercing focus on innovation.
Marlowe Completes Internal And External Comprehensive Audits
To ensure the security of the platform, Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) announced that Marlowe has gone through comprehensive audits both internally and externally. The audit was conducted by software innovation lab Tweag so as to ensure an appropriate fusion of innovation with security.
We are delighted to announce that @Marlowe_io has been audited both internally and externally by @tweagio, and is now available for developers to run on Cardano mainnet!

Also, the blockchain startup has promised to publish a copy of the audited report soon.
Per an update, “Marlowe has been internally and externally audited by @tweagio, increasing assurance of a safe environment for contract use on mainnet. It leverages the power of #Plutus, providing strong assurances via formal proofs, testing, and analysis tools.”
Apart from the safety which Marlowe offers, it also introduces guardrails into the Cardano ecosystem. The guardrails present Marlowe as a playground that offers a simulator environment to test contracts before deploying them on the mainnet with real funds.
There is also the case of accessibility to users through the integration of tutorials, guides, and best practices. Its compatibility with JavaScript and Haskell encourages seamless integration of smart contracts into decentralized applications (DApps). All of these make the protocol user-friendly and accessible.

Marlowe is also fast and efficient putting it in the same spot with many top-ranking upcoming layer-2 protocols. It can be mentioned in the league of Polygon zkEVM which is a key pioneer amongst its peers. With the launch of Marlowe and the other previously introduced innovation like Hydra, Cardano is gradually gravitating towards overtaking Ethereum (ETH) as the most dominant enabler of smart contracts and DApps in the blockchain ecosystem.
Another way Cardano is driving its innovation is the introduction of native tokens a few days ago to facilitate easy transactions and drive innovation on the blockchain. These native are different from the ADA and they operate differently as well.
