Over is an augmented open-source reality (AR) metaverse. Leveraging AR technology, the company migrates the physical world into the Metaverse. This allows users to have localized AR experiences of the real world in the Metaverse.

Over believes that the future lies in multiple metaverses. It sees itself as a way to connect 3D assets to spaces. Over’s COO Diego Di Tommaso described Over from his perspective and said:

“It’s a kind of Wikipedia, where basically you describe locations, not with text but with 3D data… We believe that in the future you’ll have the choice on what content to see when you’re in the location, but you need a decentralized database to access this data.”

Connecting AR with the real world

In addition to digitalizing our physical world, Over also works the other way around. It tokenizes the coordinates of physical space and allows the token holders to create whatever they wish on their area on the Metaverse.

These newly added creations are visible through smartphones when the location is visited in the real world. Moreover, the owner of the land can choose to create a remote experience that is accessible by others without having to visit the location in the real world.

Map2Earn

According to DiTommaso, many projects that try to build an AR version of the physical world use GPS to retract location data. The GPS systems, however, work with six meters precision in outdoor spaces and don’t even work indoors.

Over solved this problem by creating a unique solution called Map2Earn that can locate individuals through a picture. Once the users upload an image of their surroundings, Map2Earn can identify their position within 20 centimeters of accuracy. This system works with the same precision both indoors and outdoors.

Inclusion for mainstream adoption

Over aims for a web3 metaverse ecosystem where platforms are interconnected, and assets can move freely. The company is aware of mass metaverse adoption’s role in creating this web3 metaverse ecosystem.

Di Tomasso says the best approach is to include people who know nothing about crypto to use these systems. Over supports this vision via the user experience it offers.

The company creates a custodial wallet for all users upon registration. While users can opt-out of using Over’s custodial wallet and change it to their own, this feature supports those who know little about crypto and wallets by allowing them into the Metaverse to explore and learn.
