In yet another forthcoming cryptocurrency takeover, Adam Aron, the C.E.O. of A.M.C. theatres, announced that his company was on track to accept crypto payments by year-end.

The announcement made on Monday, was meant to serve as a follow-up to the promise he had made on the fate of crypto in its operations

In August, the world’s largest movie exhibition company (A.M.C) announced that it would accept Bitcoin (BTC).

When September came, it announced that its clients would also be able to use Litecoin (L.T.C.), Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin Cash (B.C.H.) to pay for tickets and concessions by the end of the year.

“Cryptocurrency enthusiasts; you likely know @AMCTheatres has announced we will accept Bitcoin for online ticket and concession payments by year-end 2021. I can confirm today that when we do so, we also expect that we similarly will accept Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.” Adam Aron said.

Many believe that with this increased adoption of crypto by the likes of A.M.C. crypto prices in 2021 are likely to soar further.

A.M.C. Entertainment Holdings (NYSE: A.M.C.), aka A.M.C. Theatres currently operates approximately 950 theatres and 10,500 screens globally.

A.M.C. Cryptocurrency Prospects

“We started accepting cryptocurrency for A.M.C. gift cards and are encoding right now to accept cryptocurrency for online payments on our website and mobile app,” Adam Aron said.

He further elaborated that,

“We are on track right now to accept, as we promised, bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, bitcoin cash and others before year-end next month … We think we’ll be able to launch the acceptance of dogecoin in the first quarter of ’22, just a few months from now.

A statement which was followed by a Twitter poll asking his Twitter followers whether they wanted A.M.C. to accept dogecoin. And the poll’s outcome was so fascinating that the company decided to include the DOGE in its upcoming listing.

Next, the C.E.O. set another Twitter poll while making a case for the ‘self-proclaimed Dogecoin killer,’ Shiba Inu this time.

And out of the 153,100 votes cast, 87.6% voted ‘Yes.

Though it is still not clear when AMC will include Shiba Inu in the crypto roaster, Mr. Aron said that they were at the moment determining how they would be able to take it in.

The poll also re-assured crypto users on the company’s end-year plans on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin.

Additionally, the C.E.O. revealed that A.M.C. was contemplating launching its cryptocurrency and was in consultation with third parties on this.

With companies like PayPal making it easy to hold and use virtual money. The prospects of using cryptocurrencies to pay for services such as movie tickets is increasing. Let’s wait and see this unfold.
